Fireworks aren’t the only thing crackling this Fourth of July. There are loads of exciting things happening around Indy in celebration for the patriotic holiday, so be sure to check them out!

Taste of Indy

When: July 2 at 11:00 AM

Where: 1 Monument Circle, Indianapolis, IN 46204

Details: This year’s Taste of Indy presents a delectable assortment of Asian, Soul, Greek, Mediterranean, Cajun, Hispanic and American food. Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra – Big Band Patriotic Concert

When: June 28 at 7:00 PM

Where: 5377 N. College Ave.

Indianapolis, IN

Details: Be sure to stop in and check out who’s playing at The Jazz Kitchen for this patriotic holiday. The Big Band patriotic Concert will be featuring vocalists Julie Powers and Russell Moss.

Cost: $1.

INDYpendence Day Concert for Cancer

When: July 2 to July 3 at 2:00 PM

Where: 250 W. Georgia St., Indianapolis, IN 46225

Details: The 4th Annual INDYpendence Day Concert for Cancer is a two-day music festival featuring several national music acts, food trucks, sponsors, vendors, and several opportunities for consumers to learn more and contribute to the Riley Children’s Foundation and the St. Francis Patient Assistance Fund.

This year’s headliners are Ludacris, AWOLnation, Kongos, Blue October, Mike Stud, and Lost Kings. The INDYpendence Day Concert for Cancer is the brain child of Scott Lintner who was diagnosed with Leukemia on 6/30/1999. Scott was not supposed to ever make it to 50. Through a lot of personal stubbornness, medical miracles, faith, and a whole lot of help from friends and family, Scott saw the age of 50 in June 2012. He always said that if he made it, he would have a huge party for everyone that has helped him and all those affected by cancer. INDYpendence Street Fest is Scott’s dream becoming a reality!

4th of July Celebration – Hoagie Eating Contest

When: July 2

Where: 414 Dorman St., Indianapolis, IN 46202

Details: Hoagies and Hops will be hosting an 18-inch hoagie eating contest during Flat12’s 4th of July celebration.

Come for live music, a special beer release, hoagie specials all day, and more!

Eating Contest Entry Fee: $15. $10 from each ticket will be donated to HVAF.

Marsh Symphony on the prairie – Star Spangled Symphony

When: July 2 to July 4

Where: 13400 Allisonville Rd., Fishers, IN 46038

Details: Experience the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and many other musical guests each weekend at the Conner Prairie Amphitheatre. It’s the perfect place to meet friends, family, and even large groups for a fun night out. Bring your own food and drinks or purchase concessions on site. Buy a table by the stage or bring your blanket for the lawn. Marsh Symphony on the Prairie allows you to enjoy the music the way you want.

Independence Day Social

When: July 4th at 1:00 PM

Where: 1230 N. Delaware St., Indianapolis, IN 46202

Details: Travel back in time and discover how we celebrated Independence Day in Victorian times!

The day includes walk-thru tours of the home of the 23rd President of the United States complete with re-enactors, ice cream and other snacks, games, and more.

Firecracker 6 Run/Walk

When: July 4 at 8:00 PM

Where: 222 E. Market St., Indianapolis, IN 46204

Details: Embrace your patriotism and participate in the Firecracker 6 Mile Run/Walk. This Hoosier Helping Heroes event is dedicated to providing a sense of community and connection for deployed American soldiers while far away from their homes. Sport your red, white, and blue and stroll through beautiful Indy, all for a great cause fit for the day.

Start at the iconic City Market and travel through historical Fountain Square, get a perfect view of Lucas Oil Stadium, and finish with a photo op at the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument.
