Fall Home Staging Tips

The month of October has arrived, and with it comes all of the best parts about fall: temperate weather, visits to the pumpkin patch and fresh apple treats. If your home is currently on the market, you can get into the fall spirit by staging your home using seasonal touches. It doesn’t take much time or money, and the extra style will surely impress potential buyers.

Brighten up your Home

A well lit home always looks more attractive to buyers. During the fall season, your home will look even cozier with the proper amounts of lighting. Be sure that every corner, crevasse and wall of your home is illuminated. If that means you need to purchase a few extra table lamps or install more wall sconces, you may want to update your weekend “to-do” list.

Use Seasonal Decorations

Fall foliage, flowers and decorations can add seasonal cheer to your home. The rich, warm colors of fall will make the interior of your home feel more inviting. Invest in some apple, pumpkin, cinnamon or other lightly-scented, seasonal candles. Additionally, lighting a fire in the fireplace can create a warm, snug atmosphere that can help buyers envision themselves living in your home.

Increase Curb Appeal with Fall Flowers

Add some fall blooms to your lawn or porch landscaping to increase the curb appeal. Mums, asters, goldenrod, Russian sages, Heleniums and more all bloom in during the fall season, and will provide some gorgeous, seasonal color to your home.

Little Touches Go A Long Way

You definitely don’t want to go overboard with seasonal decorations. Too much, and your home will look tacky and out of place. Worst of all, buyers may focus on your decorations instead of your home! Instead, carefully select your decorations and make sure you are choosing quality over quantity. Keep it simple and remember that a little goes a long way when it comes to seasonal staging.
