Beginning today, Monday, June 7, 2010, new trash routes will be established for the district serviced by Department of Public Works (DPW) trucks. New weekly pick-up days and new heavy trash pick-up days will affect many in the district.
New routes are being implemented in order to create greater efficiencies in pick-up locations across geographic areas. Fragmented service districts and inconsistent collection practices result in inefficiencies, lag times with vehicle maintenance, and unnecessary overtime pay for employees. The new system will result in better customer service for residents and decreased costs to taxpayers.
Residents in the DPW service district who recently received 96 gallon carts should begin using them on Monday.
The best way for a resident to determine how one’s household is affected is to visit www.indy.gov/trashimprovements. Click the link at the bottom of the page to enter the location’s address; the pick-up days will then be viewable.
