Indy area Halloween events and trick or treat times

From hayrides to haunted houses: Indianapolis has a great calendar of events to mark the Halloween season. Throughout the month of October, special activities are popping up all over the city, and there is something for everyone to enjoy. Here is a list of ideas of fun ways to celebrate Halloween with family and friends including trick or treat times for surrounding areas.

Children’s Museum Haunted House

The Indianapolis Children’s Museum’s 50th annual Halloween Haunted House is up and running! This year’s theme is called Time Travel. For the little ones, or for people who are easily scared, visit during the Lights-On hours. Or if you’re feeling brave, try walking through during XTreme Scream Fridays.

Headless Horseman Events at Connor Prairie

See the Headless Horseman and other ghouls when you taked a haunted hayride through Connor Scarie. New activities happen nightly, so check the schedule of events to see all of the silly and spooky ways to celebrate Halloween:

Zoo Boo

Tour the zoo while it’s decked out Halloween-themed decorations and stay for face painting, crafts, carnival rides and animal shows.

Waterman’s Farm

With two Indiana locations, Waterman’s farm is the perfect place to pick out delicious fall produce. Hunt through the pumpkin patch for the perfect Halloween pumpkin. Take a hayride around the farm and participate in Fall Harvest events.

Best times for trick or treating

Halloween is just around the corner! After you’ve stocked up on your candy and arranged the spooky faux spider webs on your door, you’ll be ready to dress your little vampires and princesses up and head out to the neighborhood. Trick or treat!

Not sure what time you should head out and start your Halloween adventure? The times for several counties and cities in central Indiana are listed below.

Boone County – Zionsville: 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Hamilton County – Carmel: 5 – 8 p.m.

Hamilton County – Fishers: 6 – 8 p.m.

Hamilton County – Noblesville: 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Hamilton County – Westfield: 5 – 8 p.m. (The Westfield Fire Department will hand out glowsticks in neighborhoods during trick or treat hours.

Johnson County – Greenwood: 6 – 8 p.m.

Marion County – Indianapolis: 6 – 8 p.m.

Marion County – Lawrence: 5:30 – 8 p.m.
