Let’s Get Organized
Does your home suffer from “out-of-control clutter”? Do you find you rush out to buy that much needed item just to find out you have three brand-new bottles of it hidden in your cabinets or closets? Then it’s time to bit the bullet and get organized this summer.
Let’s start with the closets. Most homes nowadays are built plenty big, but they lack what is called useable space. Closets are a key example of that as they are usually the large, walk-in type, but only have one wire shelving – leaving unused space throughout.
Here are a few tips on how to help declutter your closets:
Tip 1: Clear it out!
If you haven’t worn it or used it in a year, get rid of it. Your skinny jeans probably are not in style anymore, so donate them.
When you lose the weight, treat yourself by buying a new stylish pair.
Tip 2: K.I.S.S. – Keep It in Sight, Seriously
Frequently used items should be kept at eye level or below, and any rarely used items should be stored higher up. Use labeled boxes to store seasonal items like bathing suits and turtlenecks, so you can rotate them higher and lower in your closet depending on the season.

Tip 3: Seasons Change
Sometimes no matter how organized you are, you just might have too much stuff. If that’s the case, a seasonal rotation may be your best bet. Use covered clothing racks or flat storage boxes to store out-of-season clothes and keep them in your attic, basement or under your bed.
Tip 4: Measure Up
Once your closet is cleared of extra clutter, assess the layout and measure your closet. There are many boxes, bins, and other necessary space-savers out there, so having these measurements on hand will be handy. Remember to use every square inch of your closet, including backs of doors, floor space, and all interior walls.
