Springtime Activities around the Indy area

As the city starts to wake up after a long winter, it’s time to dust off your bike and break in your new running shoes. Want to get outside and enjoy the sunshine but not sure where to go? Here’s a list of trails and greenways for you to enjoy in your area!

 

Central Canal Towpath

5.2 miles

Runs from Broad Ripple toward downtown, passing through the Indianapolis Art Center, Butler University, International School of Indiana, Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet School and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

 

The Monon Trail – Carmel

5.2 miles

Running from 96th to 146th Street in Carmel, the Monon Trail is one of the best features of Indianapolis and surrounding areas.

 

Cool Creek Loop – Carmel Access Bikeway

13.9 miles

This bikeway takes you through neighborhoods and along city streets passing through Carey Grove Park, Flowing Well Park, Cherry Tree Trail, Mohawk Trails Elementary and Clay Junior High.

 

Westfield Trails and Bike Loops

Westfield has many trails and bike loops to walk or ride on throughout the city. Check out the maps linked above for directions.

 

Cheeney Creek Natural Area – Fishers

1.91 miles

Cheeney Creek is a 25-acre natural preserve with opportunities for hiking and fishing in a beautiful, secluded area in the middle of Fishers.

 

Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve – Fishers2.25 miles

Ritchey Woods is 42 acres of an Indiana State Designated Nature Preserve and 85 acres under conservation. Includes opportunities for hiking and biking as well as picnic tables and shelters.
