Summer Home Maintenance Checklist
1.) Wash Exterior Windows
The weather is finally warm enough that you can get outside and not worry about getting a little wet. Summer is great time to clean those exterior windows and let that sun shine in your home!
2.) Inspect & Clean Window Screens
With windows often open on the cooler summer days, its imperative to check out all of your screens. With summertime bugs out in full force, you wan’t to do everything you can to keep them out of your home!
3.) Check & Clean Your Homes Exterior
Take a walk around your homes exterior and take a look at the exterior. Was siding recently damaged by the storm? Is a trim board rotten? Is there green algae growing on your vinyl siding? This is a great time to make repairs and consider power washing your home’s exterior
4.) Inspect & Clean Your Ceiling Fans
You likely haven’t run your ceiling fans for at least 6 months. This is a good time to make sure they are both clean and in balance (not making that scary noise and swinging around).
5.) Check Your Deck and/or Patio
With outdoor entertaining beginning to kick into high gear, make sure your deck or patio is in good shape. Are there raised nails that could catch a visitors foot? Does the deck need a new coat of stain?
6.) Clean Your Grill
Most grills tend to get neglected when it comes to cleaning, but this is a good time to check it out and get it ready for summer cookouts. Remove all the components and make sure they are clean and safe for cooking!
7.) Lay Fresh Mulch
Spruce up the look of your landscaping with a fresh layer of mulch. The dark fresh color will really add to your curb appeal this summer!
8.) Check Your Fence
Take a walk around your entire fence. Are there any loose boards? Does it need a coat of stain?
9.) Inspect Drainage
Water near your foundation is the enemy! Make sure your gutters are ran far away from the home in order to avoid water issues in your basement or crawlspace
10.) Check Your Gutters
Get up on your roof and clean up the mess in the gutters. Clogged gutters can lead to water problems in your home!
