Spring is here and we are racing into May! The month of May of course brings the world famous Indianapolis 500 to our great city, but also tons of other great events for people of all ages and interests. Here are a few of our favorite things to do in Indianapolis May 2017: 

 

Rathskeller Biergarten Grand Opening with Polka Boy

When: May 5th at 6:00PM

Where: The Rathskeller (401 E Michigan St, Indianapolis, IN 46204)

One of our favorite warm weather hangouts hosts its grand opening celebration for the season on May 5th. The Rathskeller brings German fun to Indianapolis. Wonderful live music from Polka Boy serves as the backdrop for authentic German food and beer. There is no better place to hang out on a warm Friday night!

When: May 6th, 6PM to 12AM

Where: Indianapolis Motor Speedway (4790 W. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46222)

The exciting month of May at IMS kicks off with Rev Indy 2017. Guests will dine on driver-inspired cuisine prepared by Indy’s top chefs and enjoy a variety of music and entertainment while mingling with IndyCar drivers and racing legends. Experience a behind-the-scenes look at the Yard of Bricks, the acclaimed Borg-Warner trophy and Victory Podium and enjoy photo opportunities with Indianapolis’s finest vintage cars.

Grand Prix of Indianapolis

When: May 13th, 3:50PM

Where:Indianapolis Motor Speedway (4790 W. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46222)

While the Indianapolis 500 is approaching it’s 101st running at the end of the month, the Grand Prix of Indianapolis is entering just it’s 4th race. This race features IndyCar drivers racing around the speedway’s road course instead of the famous oval. If you’re looking for a different, less crowded experience than the Indy 500, this might be just your ticket. Click here for tickets.

 

Red Hot Chili Peppers Concert

When: May 18th, 8:00PM

Where: Bankers Life Fieldhouse (125 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, IN 46204)

Legendary rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers known for songs such as “Californication” and “Under the Bridge” visit Indy on May 18th. Tickets are available here.

 

Indianapolis Monthly Dream Home Tour

When: May 6-21st, 12:00-6:00PM

Where: 2000 W. 116th St., Carmel, IN 46032

If you are an HGTV junkie and love before-and-after projects, you will love this amazing remodel! Builder Jon Guy of GuyCo Home & Remodeling and designer Kristin Okeley of KBD Home transformed this Carmel home into the 2017 Dream Home. Tour tickets are $15 online or $20 at the door, and 100% of the proceeds benefit students of the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana. Broad Ripple Art Fair

Miller Lite Carb Day

When: May 26th, 8:00AM-6:00PM

Where:Indianapolis Motor Speedway (4790 W. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46222)

Carb Day might as well be a holiday for many in Indianapolis. This isn’t only the last live practice before the big race. The legendary Steve Miller Band will headline the Miller Lite Carb Day concert, shifting race weekend for the 101st Indianapolis 500 into high gear with hit songs that defined a generation of American music.

This year marks the 101st running of the race.
