Things to do in Indianapolis September 2017

 

Summer is winding down and September is here. This upcoming weekend’s Labor Day weekend festivities are what many consider the traditional end of summer. As the weather begins to cool, many great fall activities come to our great city. Here are a few of our favorites:

 

 

62nd Annual Chevrolet Performance NHRA US Nationals

When: August 30th – September 4th

Where: Lucas Oil Raceway (10267 U.S. Hwy. 136, Indianapolis, IN 46234)

Every year on Labor Day weekend, NHRA racers and fans descend on our great town and visit Lucas Oil Raceway for one of the most prestigious and important drag races in the world. Many race fans say that no drag racing career is ever complete without a win at the NHRA US Nationals. 

 

John Mayer Concert

When: September 3rd, 7:00PM

Where: Klipsch Music Center (12880 E. 146th St., Noblesville, IN 46060)

Acoustic pop extraordinaire and guitar virtuoso John Mayer makes his only stop of the summer in Noblesville for his “Search for Everything” tour. The tour is unique in that it features three sets: an acoustic set, full band set and a set with the “John Mayer Trio.” If you’ve never seen John Mayer in concert before, he puts on an excellent show by mixing in old favorites like “Your Body is A Wonderland” and “Daughters” with blues influenced jams and some well placed covers.

 

Colts Kickoff Concert

When: September 9th at 4:30PM

Where: Georgia Street, Downtown Indianapolis

The Indianapolis Colts host their fifth annual Colts Kickoff Concert on the east block of Georgia Street in downtown Indianapolis. The headliner is one of country music’s hottest new artists, Frankie Ballard. Getting the evening started are two native Hoosiers who are now in Nashville chasing their dreams, Clayton Anderson and Corey Cox. Other activities include performances and autographs from Colts cheerleaders and Blue. The concert will offer Bud Light drink specials and food provided by Kilroy’s.

 

Noblesville Duck Race

When: September 9th at 5:00PM

Where: Logan Street bridge at the White River, Noblesville, IN 46060

Looking for a great activity for families with young kids? Head to Noblesville for the Duck Race! Approximately 3,000 rubber ducks are numbered and sold to participants for $5 each prior to the race. Then on the day of the event at 5:00 pm, the ducks are released to race down the river. One lucky duck wins $1000.  Come for the fun of river activities, downtown dining, live music and a wine/beer garden.

 

Scott Brothers House Party

When: September 12th, 7:30PM

Where: Old National Centre (502 N. New Jersey St., Indianapolis, IN 46204)

Do you love HGTV’s Property Brothers? The boys are visiting Indianapolis! Inspired by their new memoir, It Takes Two: Our Story, Jonathan and Drew’s House Party tour offers fans an uncensored look into their lives. The brothers share some of the wisdom they’ve gleaned as entrepreneurs, and reveal all the hilarious behind the scenes moments that don’t make it onto TV. Door prizes, impromptu design consultations,  bloopers from the show, and plenty of laughs will round out this fun evening with Jonathan and Drew.  

 

Fishers Movies in the Park

When: September 15th, Sunset

Where: Nickel Plate District Amphitheater (6 Municipal Dr., Fishers, IN 46038)

Grab a blanket or lawn chairs, some snacks and sit back and enjoy family favorite Moana with your family and friends! Movie-goers are encouraged to arrive early and secure their seats as show starts promptly at sunset. The movies are free to attend and concessions are on-site to purchase!

 

 

Indianapolis Wine Festival

When: September 15th at 5:00 PM to September 16th at 3:00 PM

Where: Pavilion at PanAm (201 S. Capitol Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46225)

Are you a wino like we are? The Indianapolis Wine Festival gives visitors the opportunity to sample over 200 wines from around the world! Learn about new and exciting varieties from wine experts in a relaxed festival setting. Wine seminars and cooking demonstrations will also take place at this awesome event. Some of the Indy’s best restaurants will also be on site to sell their signature dishes. All of this set to the back drop of live music on the festival stage. What a wonderful evening!

 

 

Potter’s Bridge Fall Festival

When: September 30th, 11AM – 3PM

Where: Potter’s Bridge (19401 North Allisonville Road, Noblesville, IN 46060)

Enjoy a special autumn day at Potter’s Bridge Park during the 18th Annual Potter’s Bridge Fall Festival. Listen to live music, visit the more than seventy arts, crafts, and food booths, watch your little ones play in the KidZone, or simply take in the natural beauty of Noblesville’s most scenic park on the White River Greenway Trail.
