VERY IMPORTANT: Check your property tax bills carefully

Some counties have changed the way they are handling the mailing of the 2014 tax bills if your property taxes are escrowed.

Previously the county would send the original tax statement to the lender and a copy to the borrower. The borrower copy had a shadow stamp stating “THIS IS NOT A BILL“. This year you may see a shadow stamp stating ESCROW REQUESTED. If this is the case action is required by the homeowner. The lender is not receiving a copy and will not know how to adjust escrow accounts accordingly.

The small type instructions will tell you to forward a copy of the bill to your lender. Each servicing agent will handle this differently.
